GALLERY: Crafts From The Farm

In conjunction with campus activities surrounding the celebration of the UC Davis Centennial in the fall of 2008, The Craft Center Gallery will be showcasing Crafts From the Farm, September 29-October 31.  There will be a closing reception for the artists on October 31, from 5:30-7pm. Located in the South Silo Building on the UCD campus, The Craft Center Gallery is open M-Th. 10 am-10 pm, Fridays, 10 am-7pm and weekends, 10 am-6 pm.  For more information, call Jan Garrison at 752-3096.

UC Davis was originally called the University Farm. Many crafts and craft techniques come from the farm where DIY was the way of life.  We will be displaying wares crafted by our staff and participants that have the obvious connections to the farm, i.e. spinning, weaving, sewing, forging, wood working, candle making, soap making, etc as well as crafts that depict life on the farm through photography and crafts with maybe less direct connections: jewelry, ceramics, glass fusing inspired by life on the farm.
