Wilderness First Responder

This 80-hour course is the industry standard for most professional guiding
programs. Taught by former OA guide Julie Munger, you will be immersed in all aspects of wilderness emergency medicine. Heavy emphasis is placed upon learning practical skills and using scenarios to develop your diagnostic and
decision making abilities. This course follows the guidelines of the Wilderness
Medical Society. Upon completion you will receive 3-year certification through Sierra Rescue.

This basic EMT course offered by OA is under the certification of the N.R.E.M.T.  Upon successful completion of this course, you can be certified to work In the Emergency Medical Services system. This course represents a commitment
to 128 hours of classroom and lab work plus 10 hours of clinical observation at
UCDMC. This newest revision of the state- mandated curriculum meets all National Registry criteria. Registration by lottery- system starts September 22. Arrive at 9 a.m. for lottery pre-registration. Lottery draw begins at 10 a.m. Must have a valid CPR card certification in hand to register for this class. A professional level CPR certification will be needed by the end of the course.
